John Lewis has unveiled its newly refurbished and upsized beauty hall at its Liverpool One store, marking the start of a multi-million-pound rollout of “beauty discovery destinations” across the retailer’s store estate.

The transformed space is the first of six new beauty halls scheduled for this year and will form the blueprint for a nationwide expansion.

John Lewis has expanded its Liverpool beauty hall by almost 40% to 16,000sq ft and now houses 132 premium brands, including 23 new or expanded counters.

It is also the first of its stores to feature Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, marking a new partnership between the brand and the retailer. The space also brings exclusive brands to the city for the first time, such as Trinny London, Byredo and Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

The beauty hall upgrade forms part of a wider £800m commitment into revamping the John Lewis brand and its store estate. Once completed, the retailer will offer over 540 beauty counters, almost 70 dedicated treatment rooms, and more than 400 distinct beauty services nationwide.

John Lewis chief commercial officer Vikki Kavanagh said: “John Lewis is making this commitment because its stores are the physical heartbeat of the brand.

“While our digital store offers convenience, our physical stores are designed for connection and discovery, ensuring customers receive the full John Lewis experience, however they choose to shop.

“The vision is for the stores to be destinations where people can discover and shop curated collections, learn from an expert, try a new beauty treatment, or meet a friend for lunch,” Kavanagh continued.

“Ultimately, John Lewis aims for everyone who walks through its doors to leave feeling genuinely inspired.”
