Fashion brand Paul Smith has promoted its director of financial planning and analysis Richard Woollams as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

The exec joined the luxury retailer in 2010 as its financial planning and analysis manager.

He went on to become the brand’s head of financial planning and analysis in 2015, before stepping up to serve as its director of financial planning and analysis in 2022.

Prior to joining Paul Smith, Woollams worked as a financial analyst for the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services and a private banking analyst for the Royal Bank of Scotland Business.

He also served as a sales consultant for Giorgio Armani from 2003 to 2007.

Posting a statement on LinkedIn, Woollams said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be taking on the role of chief financial officer at Paul Smith!

“Exciting times ahead as we start this new chapter.”

Earlier this month, Paul Smith named ex-Fortnum & Mason CEO Ewan Venters as its newly created executive chairman.

Venters had served as non-executive director of the business since February, and was previously CEO of art gallery Hauser & Wirth.
