Uniqlo owner Fast Retailing saw its fourth year of record profits in its latest results.

Pre-tax profit rose 16.8% at the business for the year to 31 August, from £3.18bn the year before.

Operating profits were up 16.6% year on year to £2.76bn over the period.

Sales jumped 9.6% year on year to £16.6bn, while gross profits increased 9.3% year on year to £6.21bn.

The results mark the company’s fourth consecutive year of “record” results, which it said were “boosted by the performance of Uniqlo Japan” where sales hit £5.04bn.

Uniqlo International experienced a “record performance,” as operating profits jumped 9.1% year on year to £1.51bn and sales hit £9.34bn.

Moving forward, the group forecast consolidated sales to climb 10.3% to £18.36bn next year, as it sought to “continue to strengthen the opening of high-quality stores around the world” with a predicted 3,594 store network by the end of August 2026.

The results come as Uniqlo UK pushes ahead with its regional store expansion, with its Birmingham Bullring site due to open on 16 October.

The brand is also set to launch stores at Bristol’s Cabot Circus and Leeds next year, following its store launch in Liverpool in April.
