Asda has officially reopened its newly refurbished Harrogate Superstore following a £2 million upgrade, the first in a wider £12 million programme to modernise key stores across Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.

The Bower Road store is the first to benefit from the retailer’s investment, which will include improvements to stores in York, Pudsey, Keighley, and Kingswood.

Further refurbishments have been planned for both its Grimsby and Stockton stores before the end of this month.

The upgrade introduces a more intuitive layout, new feature lighting, and modern signage aimed at improving the overall shopping experience.

Key departments including Beer, Wines & Spirits, Fruit & Veg, Bakery, and Health & Beauty have all been refreshed.

A brand-new George Home and General Merchandise section has also been unveiled, featuring the latest Winter Collection from Stacey Solomon.

In a statement Liz Evans, Asda’s chief commercial officer for Retail and Non-Food, said: “We’re so excited to welcome customers into our newly upgraded Harrogate store – the first to get an upgrade as part of our £12 million investment across Yorkshire and nearby areas.

“Asda started here 60 years ago, so putting money back into our home patch really means a lot to us. We want our stores to feel fresh, easy to shop, and full of great value for local families.

“This is just the start – we can’t wait to unveil more upgraded Yorkshire stores over the next few weeks.”
