Marks & Spencer kidswear director Alex Dimitriu has stepped down from the company after six years.

The exec joined M&S in February 2020 to serve as its head of menswear buying, before being appointed business unit director kidswear in January 2023.

Prior to this, Dimitriu served as a buying and design director for fashion brand Miss Selfridge, from March 2018 to February 2020.

Additionally, she worked as buying, merchandising and design director for New Look from August 2016 to October 2017, and served as its womenswear director from May 2016 to May 2018.

She was also a senior buyer for M&S from 1998 to 2005, before returning as its head of buying in 2013.

Posting on LinkedIn, Dimitriu said: “After 30+years of working life, leading this Kidswear Marks and Spencer has been my career high.

“A team of 100+ they are hardworking, ambitious, creative, passionate, risk-taking and resilient.

“Most importantly, a team that does it for each other and for their customers. That’s how they deliver outstanding product they can be proud of.”

Retail Gazette has contacted M&S for comment.

In December, M&S welcomed New Look exec Elaine Cartwright as its new stores director of innovation and implementation.

The food and fashion giant also named ex-Asda boss Roger Burnley as a new non-executive director in October.
