John Lewis has been named Which? Retailer of the Year for the second year in a row, after impressing judges with its ‘customer service, product quality and value credentials’.
It retained the title at the annual Which? Awards, which were held at the Science Museum in London on 14 May and hosted by Sue Perkins.
John Lewis beat a shortlist that included Euronics, The iOutlet, Joie Baby, Lakeland, Richer Sounds and Samsung.
Which? said John Lewis ‘stood out for the strength and consistency of its offer across multiple categories’, with the retailer achieving high customer scores across home appliances, technology and furniture.
The judging panel said: “John Lewis delights customers with first-class service and excellent value for money bolstered by its price-matching promise.”
The Which? Retailer of the Year shortlist recognises retailers that consistently score highly for customer service, product range, quality and value for money.
The annual awards span 13 categories, including banking, utilities, travel, electric vehicles, home appliances and retail. Winners are selected by Which?’s expert judges using criteria including brand performance in product testing and surveys, reliability scores and findings from its investigations.
Which? chief executive Anabel Hoult said: “The Which? Awards celebrate the brands offering truly outstanding products and services. They’re recognised as the gold standard because our independence, rigorous testing and expertise means that when we give our endorsement, consumers and businesses can absolutely trust it.
“I offer my warmest congratulations to every winner. They should be immensely proud, as our standards are exceptionally high.”
Other retail sector winners included Aldi, which was named Best Value Brand of the Year, while Miele picked up both Consumer-First Brand of the Year and Home Appliance Brand of the Year.
Octopus Energy was named Consumer-First Service of the Year, Talkmobile won Utilities Brand of the Year and Trailfinders took home Travel Brand of the Year.
