Dr Martens has appointed two senior product executives from Marc Jacobs and Adidas as it steps up investment in design and merchandising.

Isadora Versiani joins the footwear retailer as global product design director from Marc Jacobs, while Nadia Svensson becomes global merchandising and product director after serving as senior product director at Adidas in Shanghai.

The newly created roles, which will both start in November, will report to chief brand officer Carla Murphy and sit on Dr. Martens’ leadership team, bringing greater focus on product design, merchandising and international consumer trends.

Versiani brings more than 17 years’ footwear design and product innovation experience, having also held senior roles at Tory Burch. Her career has included footwear collections for Rihanna and Serena Williams, as well as collaborations with Converse and David Shrigley.

Svensson has international product and merchandising experience across Adidas, Kathmandu and Zalando. At Adidas, she led outdoor and sportswear category growth across Greater China and APAC.

Dr. Martens chief brand officer Carla Murphy said: “Isadora and Nadia are exceptional additions to Dr. Martens, bringing together a rare combination of creative vision, product expertise and international market experience.

“They have both built their careers at some of the world’s most influential footwear, fashion and performance brands, and I’m excited about what they will bring to the brand.

“These newly created roles are an important investment in our product and brand future. As we move further into our consumer-first model, it is critical that we bring product design back to the centre of the brand, with a sharper understanding of what consumers want and where we show up for them.

“Dr. Martens has an incredibly distinctive brand and a loyal global consumer base. Working with our teams Isadora and Nadia will help us build on that strength creating products that feel unmistakably Dr. Martens, while making the brand increasingly relevant and desirable to more consumers in more markets. This is an exciting step forward as we enter our next phase of growth.”
