Joules is stepping up its return to physical retail with plans to open four new stores across the UK, four years after it collapsed into administration.
The company is preparing to open new shops in Northallerton and Harrogate in North Yorkshire, alongside a store at Caledonia Park Designer Outlet in Gretna, Scotland, and another in Basingstoke.
Three of the stores are expected to open before the end of 2026, with the fourth set to follow in 2027, as Joules rebuilds its physical retail presence.
It is already recruiting for its new Northallerton shop, while vacancies for a store manager, assistant manager and sales staff have also been advertised for its Caledonia Park outlet.
The openings mark the latest stage in Joules’ recovery after it fell into administration in November 2022 following a period of mounting financial pressure.
Next subsequently partnered with Joules founder Tom Joule to acquire the business out of administration in December that year.
Next took a 74 per cent stake in the new Joules business, while Tom Joule retained the remaining 26 per cent. The fashion giant said at the time that it paid £28.8m for the trade and assets, comprising £15.7m for its equity stake and a £13.1m loan to the business.
Joules had operated more than 100 stores at its peak, but its estate was significantly reduced following its collapse.
It now trades from around 53 locations across the UK, while its products are also available through its own website and Next’s online platform.
