The president and executive creative director of J Crew is stepping down after 26 years with the fashion retailer.

Jenna Lyons will depart her role as president of the US-based brand – which operates six stores in London and trades online – but will remain as creative advisor until December 2017 when her contract ends.

Lyons previously worked in design positions before working her way up to her dual role in 2012.

While her position will not be filled, J Crew have instead promoted Somsack Sikhounmuong, head of women‘s design, to chief design officer to oversee the retailer‘s women‘s, men‘s and crewcuts design teams.

Sikhounmuong‘s promotion is effective immediately and Lyon‘s other responsibilities will be transferred to other members of the executive team.

Sikhounmuong has been with J Crew since 2001 in senior design roles, including a stint as head of design for sister brand Madewell between 2013 to 2015.
