B&Q and Screwfix will increase the hourly pay for its employees by 8.2% and is offering a bigger staff discount on energy-saving products.
Shopfloor workers of the DIY retailers will see their pay increase to £10.60 from April to reflect market conditions, Retail Week reports.
This puts employees between 18 and 20 on £3.11 more per hour above the national minimum wage and those aged between 21 and 22 on 42p more.

B&Q staff based in certain London stores will receive an increase to £11.85 per hour and Screwfix workers based at stores within the M25 will earn up to £11.75 per hour.
Both retailers will increase the staff discount available from 20% to 30% on energy-saving products.
A B&Q spokeswoman said: “In recognition of their hard work and in order to support our colleagues with the rising costs they face, this year’s pay award is one of our largest annual increases in recent years.”
The retailer said the move was part of a £34m investment into improving pay for its frontline staff and it would maintain its policy on providing paid rest breaks.
