Tesco’s head of labs Angela Maurer has left her position at the supermarket to join Landsec as head of innovation.
The move will bring an end to Maurer’s 18 year career with Tesco, which she began on its graduate programme in 2000.
Maurer moved from head of online experience for Tesco’s grocery home shopping service to launching Tesco’s first mobile e-commerce offerings before becoming head of labs in 2014.
Tesco hasn’t lined up a replacement for Maurer yet, but is recruiting a head of labs on its website with a focus on retail product and technology innovation.
Maurer will now join real estate firm Landsec as group head of innovation.
The move comes just a month after Tesco closed its Tesco Direct website, which UK chief executive Charles Wilson described as a “small, loss-making part of the business” that had “no route to profitability”.
