Retail Gazette Loves: Circus acts at Glasgow’s Silverburn

Walking through a shopping centre on a busy day – What’s the last thing you’d expect to see? A circus, of course.

The Hammerson-owned Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow introduced an interactive circus pop-up for one night only recently, as part of the Shopping Affair customer experience initiative.

The event featured circus-style attractions including a “Fashionista Ringmaster”, giant catwalk models, jugglers, and spinning wheel artists.

Hammerson Silverburn The evening also offered exclusive discounts from a variety of retailers.

“We know that more and more consumers are looking for a unique and exciting experience when they go shopping, and that is what Shopping Affair is all about,” Hammerson head of customer experience, Kathryn Malloch said.

“Along with driving footfall, the event helped to generate additional sales for our retailers, as well as support the centre’s F&B operators.

“This is just one example of how we are going the extra mile to make every shopping trip with us as memorable as possible.”

Hammerson Silverburn Silverburn’s retail line-up includes Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, H&M, River Island, Flannels, and JD Sports.

Shopping Affair is a series of events held across the UK each year, and changes themes with each event.

It aims to provide retailers the opportunity to showcase products and create excitement among customers.
