Squire’s Garden Centres has seen a record year of sales thanks to “excellent weather conditions” throughout the peak season.
For the year ending July 31 2019, turnover increased by 15 per cent to £57 million, boosted by the addition of the newly acquired centre at Frensham, which joined the group on August 1 2018.
Average transaction value in the Garden Centres was up by four per cent, up from three per cent in 2018.

Footfall increased by 10 per cent during the period, up from the one per cent drop in 2018.
Meanwhile, profit before tax increased by 16 per cent to £3.7 million, up from £3.2 million last year on an underlying basis.
Net debt dropped by £1.1 million to £3.7 million at the year-end. Total capital investment in the year was £3.3 million.
Squire’s Garden Centres said it aims to continue to grow the business by reinvesting profit back into its garden centres and by continuing to expand and acquire new centres.
In January 2019, Squire’s Garden Centres appointed Sarah Squire as chairman of the family business, replacing her father Colin Squire.
The business begun a major extension of the shop and Café Bar at Squire’s in Milford in June and is due for completion in spring 2020.
Following the purchase of Heathlands Garden Centre in Wokingham from Wyevale on August 1 2019, Squire’s now has 16 garden centres across the South East.
