Home and DIY retailer B&Q has appointed a new Finance Director who will join the Board in September, it has been announced today.

Christian Mazauric joins the retailer from French-based sister company Castorama, where he is currently Chief Financial Officer and will take over from James Skelton who is moving on to another role with owner Kingfisher.

Last month, the retail group announced flat like-for-like sales for the 10 weeks to July 7th 2012, blaming wet weather for the disappointing results and it is hoped that Mazauric‘s experience and knowledge of the group will help improve its position.

Commenting on the appointment, a spokesperson for the Group said: “Christian Mazauric, who is currently Chief Finance Officer at Castorama, will be joining the Board as Finance Director for B&Q UK and Ireland in September.

“Christian has been in the group for 11 years and has been the Chief Finance Officer at Castorama since 2008. He is no stranger to living and working outside of France as in his earlier career he worked at Marks & Spencer in the UK.

“James Skelton will initially be inducting Christian and later in the year working closely with Kingfisher.”
