High street fashion chain Forever 21 will open 50 new stores over the next three years in sites across the major cities of France, Germany, Portugal, The Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Czech Republic as well as in new locations in the UK.

It is hoped that new stores will be 16,000-21,500 sq ft in size and situated in prime high street positions.

The stores, known for its significantly large offering of fashion, accessories and shoes, debuted in Europe when its first store opened at the Birmingham based shopping centre, Bullring, back in 2011 and has since seen the opening of several stores across the continent.

First opening its doors 30 years ago, Forever 21 has become a globally recognised brand, with 450 stores in the US and 100 internationally. This latest expansion drive is part of the group‘s goal to become an $8bn company within the next two years and to have 600 stores around the world within the next three years.

This week‘s announcement that the US retailer is planning to expand its international presence with outlets in continental Europe once again highlights the trend for US retailers to shop for space on this side of the Atlantic.
