Tesco has pushed its new Scan as you Shop service to a further 20 stores nationwide.

In a bid to reduce time spent at the checkouts amid the increasing emphasis on the “go economy” from the Big 4, Tesco has rolled out its mobile scanner scheme to 20 more of its stores.

This service allows shoppers to scan items as they shop and keep track of how much they‘ve spent.

Although other retailers offer this service, Tesco will now be the leading retailer offering scan and shop in nearly 350 stores, integrating self-service checkouts as well as manned ones.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to shop with us,” a Tesco spokesperson said.

“Scan as You Shop is already used by over 600,000 customers every week, and not only saves time at the checkout, it enables customers to track their spend as they go too.

“This new trial will mean more customers than ever before can benefit from the service and check out in a matter of seconds.”
