Majestic Wine appoints Cat Lomax as head buyer

Majestic Wine has announced Cat Lomax will be promoted to the role of head of buying, replacing Matt Pym who recently resigned from the position.

Her new role will include leading Majestic Wine’s own-label range and exclusivity, both of which are core areas in the alcohol retailer’s transformation plan.

Own-brand sales now make up 4.7 per cent of Majestic Wine‘s sales – and it is expected that this would rise under Lomax, who played a pivotal role in the creation of the recent Majestic Loves range as well as numerous new offerings from France.

She will also continue to oversee responsibilities as buyer for New Zealand, of which Majestic Wine have a 14 per cent market share, as well as key French regions and the US.

Initially joining as senior buyer in May last year, Lomax brings a wealth of experience to the role – having worked previously at Waitrose and Direct Wines.

In addition, since joining the industry in 2009 Lomax has won The Golden Magnum from the Champagne Academy and has been recognised as a Commandeur d‘Honneur de La Commanderie du Bontemps for services to Bordeaux wine.
