Topshop has the biggest social media presence in the UK, according to a new study listing the 70 most popular fashion retailers.

According to a report from Vouchercloud, high street staples like M&S and Primark fared better than ecommerce-driven brands like Boohoo, Missguided and PrettyLittleThings when it came to social media.

Instagram was found to be the biggest driver of social presence, with the biggest retailers showing huge inconsistencies between the number of Instagram followers in at the top and bottom of the spectrum.

This was seen in Asos and Topshop‘s dominant Instagram presence with 8.9 million and 6.2 million followers respectively.

Elsewhere, Topshop‘s Arcadia stablemate Dorothy Perkins more than doubled the next best retailer‘s Facebook followers.

Pinterest struggled to keep up with the rest of its social rivals, with many shunning it entirely despite being an image-focused platform.
