Liberty names new CEO

Liberty London has appointed Adil Mehboob-Khan as its new chief executive officer.

Mehboob-Khan takes over the helm of the luxury department store after stepping down as chief executive of luxury eyewear retailer Luxottica in December – a role he held since 2014.

Prior to Luxottica, he was chief executive of hair products group Wella for four years, and vice-president of beauty for Europe at Procter & Gamble for six years.

Mehboob-Khan’s appointment fills the vacancy left behind by former managing director Ed Burstell, who departed the retailer in October 2016.

“Few, if any companies have Liberty London’s rich and storied heritage,” Mehboob-Khan said.

“With its landmark central London store, unique fabrics business and exclusive Liberty London collection, this national Icon has significant global potential – I am thrilled to join at
such an exciting time.”

Marco Capello, the chairman of Liberty London and managing partner of BlueGem
Capital Partners – which owns the department store – said: “We have been searching for an individual of Adil’s calibre for some time and are excited to welcome a person with broad experience across beauty, brand and retail to drive us to the next level.”
