Outgoing Tesco UK and Ireland chief executive Matt Davies is poised to become the chairman of fashion retail group N Brown.

According to the Press Association, N Brown – which operates retail chains JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo – is expected to make the announcement next week.

READ MORE:

Davies will be the successor to Andrew Higginson, who had previously announced his intention to stand down from N Brown’s board.

Davies, who has been with Tesco since 2015, has previously been chief executive of Halfords and Pets at Home.

He is scheduled to leave the Big 4 retailer in April after a handover period in which Charles Wilson will replace him.

Tesco had appointed Wilson to head up its UK and Irish business following the Big 4 grocer’s £3.7 billion takeover of wholesaler and convenience store operator Booker, where he has been its chief executive since 2005.
