McColl’s hires Co-op exec as CCO

McColl’s has appointed Co-op managing director Richard Crampton to its newly-created role of chief commercial officer.

Crampton will join office this Autumn. He currently serves as managing director of the Buying Group for the Co-op, and has held the role since 2015.

He has also gathered over seven years of experience working at Big 4 grocer Sainsbury’s where he had a number of commercial roles, including general manager of petrol, news & mags, tobacco and kiosk.

“His background with the multiple grocers and his extensive experience in convenience and food retail will be a tremendous benefit to our business as we further strengthen our neighbourhood convenience offer,” McColl’s chief executive Jonathan Miller said.

Crampton said: “I look forward to working with Jonathan and the wider team to capitalise on the many opportunities available to the company in the convenience market.”
