Strike started off with Asda as retail graduate before working her way up to category director and then vice-president of customer proposition and planning before being promoted to lead George.

An Asda spokesman told Retail Gazette that Strike will take on her new role with immediate effect and will report directly to Asda president and chief executive Roger Burnley.

Meanwhile, Jones joined Joules after working at Marks & Spencer and Asda for a total of 25 years.

While at Asda, he was responsible for the performance of the Big 4 grocer’s trading divisions across food, general merchandise and George.
