Retail Gazette Loves: Debenhams “my dad my hero” campaign

As Debenhams’ UK stores start to reopen, it is celebrating Fathers’ Day this weekend with a campaign to highlight key workers and their everyday heroes.

The “My Dad, My Hero” campaign features Debenhams dads and their kids relating how they plan to show their appreciation for the work they do.

One of them is Daisy, a marketing coordinator for Debenhams, who said her dad Danny, a construction worker, “is genuinely the most hardworking person I know”.

“He’s continued to help others during this time, recently working on a school to make sure it is safe for when the children return,” she said.

“He’s easily pleased but I’ll be buying him a game to keep him entertained and a bottle of his favourite gin.”

Debenhams has been trading as normal online throughout the pandemic but for the past few weeks its store and maintenance staff have been getting the 120 UK stores ready to reopen, with safety and wellbeing of staff and customers at the forefront of their efforts.

“On the day devoted to celebrating fathers in every form, this year in particular we want to celebrate the heroic key workers and inspiring dads within our Debenhams family,” Debenhams chief marketing officer Abigail Comber said.

Whether your dad likes to be dapper and well-groomed, is house proud or already has “everything”, we’d like to think you’ll be able to find something for him at Debenhams.

“He’s worth it.”
