The owner of Yours Clothing has purchased tall women’s specialist retailer Long Tall Sally.

AK Retail Holdings, which also owns menswear brand BadRhino and maternity brand Bump It Up Maternity, will take ownership on September 1.

In June, Long Tall Sally had plans to begin an orderly wind down of the business, but has scrapped these plans following the acquisition.

At the time, its German direct-to-consumer retail owner TriStyle Mode GmbH said it remained open to offers from third parties who would like to continue part or all of the business.

Long Tall Sally was founded by Judy Rich in 1976. It has 9 UK stores and 16 stores across Germany and North America which closed between 2018 and 2019.

“The brand is one we are proud to own and we look forward to engaging in meaningful dialogue with LTS customers, developing the offer and taking the brand to the next stage,” AK Retail Holdings owner and chief executive Andrew Killingsworth said.

Last year, Yours Clothing posted a massive 87 per cent surge in full year profits amid a double-digit sales jump across its stores and online channels.

For the financial year ending February 3, 2019, the plus size womenswear retailer saw pre-tax profits jump to £12.4 million, compared to £6.5 million recorded the year before.

Overall sales grew by 19 per cent year-on-year to £105.5 million.

The fashion retailer employs about 1200 staff.
