Flying Tiger Copenhagen is rolling out mobile self checkout to the UK following a successful trial in its Scandinavian stores.

The retailer will introduce MishiPay’s scan, pay and go technology, which allows customers to scan and pay for items in store without having to queue or even downloading an app, to 24 London stores to start off with.

The technology will help significantly reduce queuing at the retailer and will enable store staff to focus more on customer service.

Shoppers will be able to simply scan a QR code with their smartphone and instantly access MishiPay on their phone’s browser where they can scan product barcodes and pay with the tap of a button.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen chief executive Martin Jermiin said: “Over 100,000 Flying Tiger Copenhagen shoppers have purchased with MishiPay during the first phase of our deployment in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

“We have seen the clear positive impact of the technology on both store efficiency and customer experience, and we are very excited to now activate the solution in the UK market.”

MishiPay co-founder and chief executive Mustafa Khanwala added: “The beauty of our technology is that it is valuable to both shops and shoppers. We have created a process that is seamless and frictionless for customers, and we are delighted that the outstanding commercial results and positive shopper feedback has powered the next phase in the deployment with the great team at Flying Tiger Copenhagen.”
