Sustainable activewear retailer Tala has reportedly raised £4.2 million in funding in an effort to accelerate its growth.

The retailer, which was founded by fitness entrepreneur Grace Beverley in 2019, is seeking to create sustainable, affordable, and high-performance activewear.

Tala said its products and packaging are made with upcycled, recycled and natural materials.

The £4.2 million investment will be used to develop inventory, hiring new staff and pursing international growth, Drapers reported.

Other investors include venture capital trust Pembroke, Deciem chief executive and founder Nicola Kilner, Peanut chief executive and founder Michelle Kennedy and Simon Mottram, founder of sportswear and lifestyle brand Rapha.

“I could not be more excited to announce that Tala has raised £4.2 million to take our disruption of the activewear industry to the next level,” Beverley, said.

“It’s become increasingly clear to us that we have everything it takes to take on this industry.

“So, in August, after six weeks of pitching for 10 hours a day and modelling our next three years to show where every penny of funding would go, we ended the round with six term sheets and a huge smile on my face.”
