Uniqlo is in advanced negotiations to open another store on London’s Oxford Street, Drapers has revealed.
The Japanese fashion retailer is said to be close to signing a deal to take on the 33,000 sq ft retail space at 1 Oxford Street, next to Tottenham Court Road Underground station.
Uniqlo already currently occupies two stores on Oxford Street at 170 and 311 Oxford Street and if the deal goes ahead, the new opening will take the total number of Uniqlo stores in the UK to 18.

The news follows the retailer’s plans to also open a new store in Covent Garden this spring as it further expands across the UK.

The Covent Garden store will is located in the heart of the famous shopping district with entrances on Long Acre and Floral Street.

Uniqlo and US brand Theory, both owned by Fast Retailing Group, opened a joint store on Regent Street last April.

    It’s a pity they’re so focused on London… cities in the north such as Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are crying out for a brand like Uniqlo to complement their retail environments.
