Frasers buys Luton shopping centre for £58m as it commits to physical retail

Frasers Group has bought The Mall Shopping Centre in Luton for £58m after it was put up for sale by Capital & Regional last year.

The c.900,000 sq. ft Luton mall houses over 150 retailers including Primark, TK Maxx, and H&M.

The business said the “acquisition further demonstrates Frasers Group’s ongoing investment and commitment to the long-term future of physical retail”, providing attractive
opportunities for the group to introduce new elevated store concepts and invest in the scheme.

It added it was looking forward to working with Luton Council to “stabilise and elevate the scheme”.

Group Head of Real Estate James France said: “Frasers Group is pleased to have acquired this key retail destination in Luton. We continue to have confidence in the future of the UK high street and remain committed to investing in sites which display huge potential.

“We look forward to engaging with tenants in the centre to ensure a smooth transition.”

    An absolute bargain for Frasers – watch this space for a flag ship flannels in the former Debenhams department store – great for the Airport customer
