The Original Factory Shop owner Duke Street has begun a sale process after more than 15 years.

Duke Street has owned the discount retailer since 2007 and is working with advisers at Deloitte on discussions with prospective buyers.

A number of trade and financial investors had expressed an interest in the company, Sky News reported.

The Original Factory Shop trades from 180 stores across the UK, and it is understood to be targeting the acquisition of up to 30 more outlets from rivals.

It sells brands including Adidas, Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo, L’Oréal and Under Armour.

In 2018, the company closed approximately 30 stores through a restructuring process.

Duke Street bought the company for £68.5m in 2007 from the private equity arm of Barclays.

    Duke Street. The ‘investment’ group that killed Focus DIY off. Probably the best thing that can happen to TOFS is new ownership.
