John Lewis extends same day delivery services for online shoppers

John Lewis has extended its same day delivery service to Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham after “initial success in London.”

The service, which launched in the capital last August allows customers to order an item online by 10am for delivery between 7pm and 10pm the same evening.

All deliveries to customers are made by fully electric vehicles operated by carrier company Stuart.

The service, which costs £9.95 per delivery, has proved most popular for fashion and home accessories, according to the high-street staple.

John Lewis is also extending its Click & Collect network with the launch of 72 new outlets in Dobbies Garden Centres, taking the total number of collection points to 5,700.

After a pause of over two years, the business said it was “also delighted to be restarting deliveries of larger items in Northern Ireland.”

“While we’ve been continuing to deliver smaller items to our Northern Ireland customers, they will now be able to order larger items such as large electrical appliances and furniture,” the retailer said in a statement.

John Lewis head of customer fulfilment operations Eva Cullen said: “We always want to improve the service for our customers and there’s been a real appetite for same day deliveries. With customers using it for purchases of everything from bed sheets to toothbrushes – we are confident this service could have even more potential in the future.”

“We know that our Click & Collect service offers real convenience to our customers so we are delighted to be Partnering with Dobbies Garden Centres to launch 72 new locations.”
