Iceland has slashed the price of over 200 weekly essentials as part of its summer savings initiative to support families during the holidays.

The price cuts are one of five schemes under its Summer Holiday Heroes campaign, which looks to make more items accessible during the cost-of-living crisis.

The supermarket has also launched a summer sale, offering 50% off seasonal favourites including ice lollies, pizza and cocktails.

Shoppers that use their £15 school meal vouchers with Iceland will receive £2 added to their Bonus card.

Group sales director Paul Dhaliwal said: “Families are more likely to be spending their summer at home due to rising costs.

“We want to alleviate some of the stress for parents so they, and the kids, can enjoy that time together.

“Our Summer Heroes initiatives not only help families put food on the table thanks to value prices on household essentials as well as our exclusive Bonus Card benefits, but it will also help to keep the kids entertained on a budget.”

Last week, Iceland brought back its 1p online sale for the summer holidays allowing customers to snap up their favourites items at the reduced price.
