John Lewis unveils online Christmas Shop

John Lewis has opened its online Christmas shop as searches for festive products more than doubled over the summer compared to last year.

The high street retailer said customers were already seeking inspiration online with a particular focus on value, as searches for ‘Christmas offers’ increased 25-fold.

It added that searches for artificial trees have doubled year-on-year, along with a 250% surge in enquiries for stockings and 133% increase for holiday jumpers.

John Lewis said around 30% of customers had finished their festive shopping by the end of October and 72% had researched their peak purchases online before buying.

Christmas buyer Lisa Cherry said: “This year’s themes are inspired by the magic of nostalgia and the enchantment of Christmas.

“The brilliant in-house design team have taken inspiration from our archives, giving treasured vintage prints a new lease of life across a number of festive products.

“We’re really excited for our customers to explore the new themes and plan ahead for the festive season.”

Last year, John Lewis unveiled its online Christmas shop 10 days earlier than planned due to the uptick in festive-related searches which had more than quadrupled compared to the year before.
