Majestic inks deal with Uber Eats as part of on-demand delivery drive

Majestic has partnered with Uber Eats to accelerate its on-demand delivery service.

Customers can now shop the retailer’s expansive range of wines through the delivery app, with orders set to arrive in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership has initially launched in eight stores – Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge, Clapham, Esher, Notting Hill, St John’s Wood and Westbury-on-Trym – and will be rolled to a total of 177 stores by the end of October.

As part of the deal, Majestic will be the headline drinks partner for Uber Eats meaning that it will permanently feature at the top of the alcohol section of the app.

Chief operating officer Rob Cooke said: “Our mission at Majestic is to help people discover and buy wines, beers and spirits they will love, and this partnership with Uber Eats will allow us to deliver to even more households whenever they need us.

“We know that our online customers value the flexibility of shopping the stock available at their local stores in real time – now they have the added convenience of being able to get our award-winning wines delivered to their doorsteps in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership comes as Majestic looks to build on its online growth momentum following the pandemic, as well as capitalise on the growing demand among consumers seeking local delivery solutions.

Ecommerce sales for the wine retailer accounted for more than 20% of its retail revenue in its most recent financial year.

It attributed the surge to the increasing popularity of its Shop Local proposition, where customers can shop the stock available at their local store, in real time, for free collection within four hours or next-day home delivery.
