In pictures: Retail’s best Christmas windows 2023

With the festive season now upon us, retailers across the nation have unveiled their Christmas windows.

Retail Gazette rounds up the best windows and festive façades from retailers including Fenwick, Selfridges and more.

Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nichols’s Christmas window has a festive fairground-theme, with its Knightsbridge flagship transformed with holographic colours, animated lighting against a backdrop of a traditional funfair.

The department store has also launched several in-store activities as part of its festive campaign, including fairground games like hook-a-duck and ring toss, and a claw grabber machine.

Fenwick

Fenwick’s Christmas windows in Newcastle are legendary. This year, the department store has brought C.S. Lewis’ popular tale, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life.

The department store’s windows follow the magical adventures of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy as they navigate the land of eternal winter.

Selfridges

Selfridges revealed its Christmas 2023 window display at its Oxford Street flagship last month.

The theatrical extravaganza, which took over 100 hours to install, features festive characters including Santa Claus as a stage director, a Christmas tree diva and a stand-up comedy snowman.

Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum & Mason’s Christmas window display is inspired by this year’s festive campaign, Where Christmas comes Alive.

The window depicts Christmas Eve scenes where the the luxury retailer’s favourite festive products come to life to prepare for the big day against a colourful backdrop of Georgian features.

Cartier

Cartier’s festive window this year features a blimp in the clouds across the front of its infamous Bond Street store.

Harrods

Harrods has teamed up with luxury designer Maison Valentino for this year’s Christmas display.

The Knightsbridge department store’s festive makeover centres around the theme of extraordinary gifts, featuring window displays, a 9m-tall Valentino pink Christmas tree and an installation showcasing its seasonal collection and accessories.
