Tesco slashes cost of Easter vegetables to 15p

Tesco is cutting the cost of essential Easter vegetables to 15p for Clubcard members, alongside offers on meat, fish, chocolate eggs and hot cross buns.

The supermarket giant said that from today (27 March) until Tuesday 2 April, potatoes, carrots, swedes, brown onions and white cabbage are all 15p on Clubcard Prices – down from 19p last Easter.

The grocer is also offering 50% off a host of centrepieces and roasting joints on Clubcard Prices including a whole lamb leg (£6.50 per kilo), large beef roasting joint with basting fat (£6.00 per kilo), boneless salmon side (£12.00 per kg) and smoked or unsmoked Wiltshire gammon joint (£6.00 per kilo).

It added that there are over 120 Easter eggs available on Clubcard Prices this Easter, including the Lindt Lindor milk chocolate ggg with mini eggs (215g) for £7.50 and the Kinder Surprise chocolate Easter egg (100g) for £4.50.

Tesco chief commercial officer Ashwin Prasad said: “We’re delighted to be helping our customers celebrate Easter with great value options for every budget.”

“We have an exciting selection of great quality staples and treats, so whether you plan to make the most of the long weekend with a roast for the whole family, an Easter Egg hunt or are hosting friends, we have everything you need for a fantastic Easter at Tesco.”

Earlier this year Tesco said it would be changing how it displays Clubcard prices following criticism from Which? that claimed the promotions made it difficult for shoppers to spot the best deals.

The grocer said it will update the prices on its shelves in the coming weeks to allow customers to see the unit pricing of products sold under its loyalty scheme.
