The Perfume Shop Mother’s Day sales surge as demand for gift sets double

The Perfume Shop enjoyed strong sales in the run up to Mother’s Day as consumers snapped up classic fragrances and gift sets to celebrate.

Sales volume at the retailer shot up 16% on last year’s performance, with 140,000 bottles sold from 3 to 10 March.

The business said sales of its classic fragrances had jumped 11% year on year and gift sets had rocketed 100% compared to those in 2023.

The Perfume Shop noted its busiest day online fell on 3 March, reporting a 24.9% increase in perfume purchases as customers sought to snap up promotional deals.

It added its personalisation services were in high demand, as sales nudged up 4% from 2023, with more than 27,000 ribbons and 460 engraved fragrances delivered over the period.

The Perfume Shop managing director Gill Smith said: “For many of our customers, Mother’s Day is such a special time and fragrances can make it even more special.

“Scent can hold such great emotions and also make the perfect gift for this type of occasion. It’s fantastic to see some classic scents alongside some newer fragrances being the most popular this year.”

In February, The Perfume Shop reported an 18% surge in sales around its Valentine’s Day campaign.

The retailer said it sold 200,000 bottles in the run up to the day boosted by a 110% hike in sales of gift sets.
