M&S’s website has returned online following a reported service outage on Wednesday evening (21 May).
Visitors to the website yesterday were faced with a page reading: “Sorry, you can’t browse the site currently. We’re making some updates and will be back soon,” The BBC reported.
However, as of Thursday morning (22 May), the food and fashion giant’s website has returned for shoppers.
The retailer has confirmed that the website outage was due to maintenance reasons.
An M&S spokesperson explained: “Our website is open for browsing. As we work to get things back to normal for our customers, we are doing some overnight updates.”
M&S suspended its online orders near the end of last month, after being hit by a cyber attack earlier in the week.
It is understood that hacking group Scattered Spider is behind the ransomware attack on the retailer’s IT network. The retail giant expects online orders to resume at the start of July.
