Dobbies recorded a drop in earnings over the last two years in its first accounts since 2023.

The garden centre reported results covering both 2023 and 2024 due to the timing of its restructuring disrupting its usual schedule.

The retailer generated a double-digit revenues advance during its current financial year.

Dobbies sales came in at £270m over the 2024 financial year, with a loss at underlying EBITDA level of £1.7m.

Revenues dropped to £257m for the year to 23 February 2025, while its loss increased to £6.2m.

Its performance was impacted by factors including adverse weather conditions during 2024 and its restructuring in 2025.

Speaking to Retail Week, CEO David Robinson said: “These are historic. Since February we’ve had good weather and strategic initiatives landing.

“We’re double-digit up like-for-like, and basically we’re where we expected to be.”

The results come as Dobbies bolsters its store estate, with £4m of development investment.

In December, the business confirmed it would be closing 12 stores, after its restructuring plan was approved by the Court of Session in Scotland.

Dobbies said it would exit the leases of 10 loss-making sites  while two additional sites in Morpeth and Stapleton would move to other garden centre operators.
