Sleep technology brand Sleep.8 has blamed rising costs and ongoing operational challenges for its decision to wind down its UK operations.
The retailer said it will close all six of its stores, which are mostly located in London, as the retail climate has become “increasingly cost-prohibitive”.
“While the company remains committed to its long-term vision for personalised sleep, current market conditions do not support continued retail investment in the UK,” said a statement from the business.
Sleep.8’s five London stores have now been closed, while its Thurrock location will stay open for the next four weeks to support stock clearance.
The brand said that all outstanding UK orders will be fulfilled, and all warranties remain valid. Customer support will continue through the company’s European headquarters and factory in Portugal.
The business will instead funnel investment into opening seven new stores in Spain and scaling its B2B partnerships with hotels, retailers, and communities across Europe.
Sleep.8 chief executive Paul Longman said: “This decision reflects our responsibility to invest wisely and focus on the markets where growth is achievable.
“We are grateful to every customer who chose to shop with us in the UK, and we want to thank our dedicated team members for the care and commitment they brought to every interaction. Their work has laid a foundation we’re proud of.”
