Hammerson has named Rob Wilkinson as its new CEO, succeeding Rita-Rose Gagné.
Wilkinson is set to join the retail propery firm’s board from 15 December as CEO designate, before taking on his permanent position from 1 January 2026.
The move comes after Gagné announced her intention to retire from her role next year back in June after five years.
Wilkinson joins Hammerson from real estate investment management services AEW Europe, where he served as CEO for over 11 years.
Bringing 30 years of experience across real estate investment markets, the exec has also held roles at UBS, Goodman Group and Eurohypo.
The firm is the owner of shopping centres including Brent Cross, London and Birmingham Bullring.
Wilkinson said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as CEO of Hammerson and look forward to working with the team.
“Under [Gagné’s] leadership the company has completed a major turnaround of the portfolio and restructured the balance sheet, firmly establishing Hammerson in a new phase of growth.”
Hammerson chair Robert Noel added: “[WIlkinson] is an established and proven real estate leader who brings a wealth of experience and a track record of delivering shareholder value.
“Through a rigorous recruitment process, he stood out from a strong field of candidates as someone who was able to translate strategic insight into shareholder value creation through exceptional leadership.”
