Eden Shopping Centre has reinforced its reputation as one of the UK’s most environmentally progressive retail destinations after securing four accolades at the 2025 Green Apple Environment Awards.

The High Wycombe-based site – which is home to more than 100 high street brands, designer stores and independent retailers –  received four awards in the categories of Carbon Reduction, Energy Management, Energy Saving and Lighting Efficiency.

Competing against more than 1000 nominations from across the UK and overseas. Judges highlighted Eden’s sustained, year-on-year performance, noting 18 consecutive months of reductions achieved through improved building controls, enhanced metering insight and targeted upgrades across the centre.

Central to this achievement was an 8.1% reduction in energy use, equivalent to almost 250 MWh, alongside renewable electricity contracts that are delivering long-term carbon reductions.

The judges also described Eden’s approach as a replicable model for other retail environments seeking to balance operational performance with environmental responsibility.

Centre director Andrew Norton said the recognition reflects a collective and long-term commitment to sustainability.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognised for our environmental commitment. It is great to be further recognised by The Green Apple Environment Awards as our whole team is committed to ensuring Eden plays a positive role in creating a more sustainable future,” he said.

“It is only by working together and communicating with our partners, tenants, and the local community we can minimise the impact of Eden on the environment.”

The Green Apple Environment Awards, which were established in 1994 and organised by The Green Organisation, are widely regarded as a benchmark for environmental best practice. They are supported by a range of bodies, including the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and REHIS.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held in London on 17 November.
