Home Bargains’ 617 UK stores will close for three days over the festive period, as the discount retailer looks to recognise the work its team does throughout the year.

Shoppers will not be able to visit the retail giant on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Home Bargains is repeating its Christmas closure, all stores were shuttered over the same three days last year. At the time a spokesperson said: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment.

“As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays.

“We’re proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season.”

In recent years, several large retailers have forgone the Boxing Day sales launch and kept stores closed to give colleagues a break. Aldi, John Lewis, M&S and Waitrose all remained closed on Boxing Day 2025.

The discount retailer is set to open a brand new Truro store later this year, with shoppers able to complete their shopping in time for Christmas. It will take over the city’s old Homebase store.

In January, the retailer reported sales increasing by 7.9 per cent from £4.29bn to £4.5bn for the year ending 30 June 2025.

The business attributed the revenue rise to the opening of additional retail outlets during the year, shop re-sites, as well as an increased contribution from existing stores.

Operating profit jumped to £492m over the period.
