Handbag and accessories brand Radley has appointed Lloyd Baker Leather Ltd as its new licensing partner, as owner Gordon Brothers looks to rebuild the business following its collapse into administration.

Under the agreement, Lloyd Baker Leather will develop, source, market and distribute Radley’s handbags and small leather goods across the UK, Europe, the US and Australia.

The partnership marks the next stage of Gordon Brothers’ plans to grow the brand through a licensing-led, asset-light model. There will be a focus on expanding its international reach and strengthening relationships with retail partners.

Gordon Brothers acquired Radley’s brand and intellectual property in May, following its administration. The deal excluded its UK retail operations, putting its 21 stores and concessions at risk and resulting in 42 redundancies.

Carolyn D’Angelo, senior managing director and head of brand operations at Gordon Brothers, said: “Radley is a beloved British brand, and we are thrilled to work with Lloyd Baker Leather Ltd. This agreement honours Radley’s legacy while supporting its continued evolution and expanding the brand’s reach.”

Lloyd Baker Leather managing director and owner Bobby Malhotra added that the partnership would combine Radley’s design heritage with the company’s expertise and established capabilities to support growth across key markets.

Founded in 1998 at a market stall in London’s Camden Market, Radley built its reputation on handbags and accessories. It become known for its signature designs and Scottie dog motif.

The licensing deal follows Gordon Brothers’ earlier pledge to explore opportunities to extend Radley into additional product categories, including watches, jewellery, eyewear and beauty gifting.

The company has said it intends to expand the brand’s presence in the UK, US, Australia and Asia, while investing in product development and marketing.

The new agreement signals a shift towards a model centred on licensing and wholesale partnerships, allowing Radley to maintain its presence in international markets following the end of its directly operated UK retail estate.
