Co-op inks rapid delivery tie-up with Just Eat

Co-op is upping its convenience credentials as it signs a deal with Just Eat to offer rapid grocery deliveries.

The service will be rolled out to 50 stores early next year before expanding to over 1,000 locations by Spring 2023.

Shoppers will be able to order their groceries using the Just Eat app and website as well as have access to the brand’s offers and promotions.

Just Eat said consumers can expect delivery in “as little as 30 minutes”.

Co-op ecommerce director Chris Conway said: “Co-op stores are well placed in local communities to provide quick, easy and convenient home deliveries – whether a full shop or last-minute top-ups.

“We are committed to exploring new and innovative ways to increase access to our products and services and, with our members and customers leading busy lives, ease, speed and convenience is a cornerstone of our approach.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Just Eat, a move which will enable Co-op to ‘deliver’ further flexible options online with increased choice and availability in our communities, however and whenever our customers choose to shop with us.”

This move comes after the supermarket revealed its new-look food strategy in September with a renewed focus on convenience and commitment to offer greater value.

Just Eat UK strategic accounts director Amy Heather said the collaboration was “another example” of the delivery brand’s commitment to grocery in the UK.

Last year, it partnered with Asda for online grocery deliveries as it built on its global grocery strategy.
