Lidl has revamped its loyalty scheme, introducing new weekly rotating discounts for members on a selection of products.

The new Lidl Plus Offers stand alongside the German discounter’s existing ‘coupons’ that give shoppers personalised discounts on a regularly changing selection of products tailored for them.

The Grocer reports that unlike the coupons, the Lidl Plus Offers are not personalised but simply exclusive additional discounts available to all loyalty scheme members.

With the coupons, users must ‘activate’ each one in the app before redeeming it by scanning their phone at checkout, which allows the discounter to gather data on shopping habits, helping to personalise future coupons.

However, Lidl Plus Offers do not require activation. They are automatically redeemed when members scan the app at checkout. Though they are not personalised, their addition will allow for even greater personalisation of coupons, according to the retailer.

The new feature has been added to the supermarket’s loyalty app in the past few days.
