Metrocentre has secured Inditex-owned fashion brand Lefties for its North East debut.
The retailer will open at the scheme in winter 2026, with the new store set to occupy a central unit at the interchange between Red and Green Mall on Town Square.
The opening will mark Lefties’ third UK location and one of its first three stores in the market.
It also represents Metrocentre’s second deal with Inditex in the first quarter of 2026.
The new store will act as a key anchor within Metrocentre’s fashion hub and stock Lefties’ collections across womenswear, menswear, teen girls, kids, baby, newborn, home, accessories and footwear.
Founded in 1999, Lefties has expanded its proposition significantly over the past decade, developing its own collections and building out its design and commercial teams from its headquarters outside Barcelona. The brand is focused on offering trend-led fashion at accessible prices.
The signing follows further leasing activity across Metrocentre’s fashion category, including the upcoming arrivals of Hollister and Bershka, with the latter also set to make its North East debut this year.
Metrocentre said fashion sales across the destination rose 4.8 per cent in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2025, while womenswear sales climbed 9.2 per cent.
Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset manager of Metrocentre, said: “We’re proud to confirm that Lefties is the latest exciting new entrant to commit to Metrocentre.
“As one of the first Lefties stores in the UK, this is another major endorsement of Metrocentre as a key location for international brands investing in UK retail.
“Lefties’ trend-savvy offer will be a compelling addition to our retail mix, and this signing, once again, reflects the dominance and appeal of our scheme to both national and international retailers.
“With our consistent footfall, extensive catchment, and quality retail offer, we continue to stand out as the leading destination in the region.”
Lefties will join fellow Inditex brands already trading at Metrocentre including Zara and Stradivarius, alongside other fashion names such as Urban Outfitters, Mango and the incoming Hollister.
The wider scheme is also home to major anchors including Flannels, Primark and M&S.
