Space NK chief commercial officer Margaret Mitchell is set to leave the beauty retailer after nearly a decade with the business.
Mitchell joined Space NK in 2016 as head of buying and has since held a string of senior roles, including global buying director and chief merchandising officer, before becoming chief commercial officer.
Prior to joining the retailer, she worked at Mecca Brands and The Boston Consulting Group.
During her time at Space NK, Mitchell has been credited with playing a central role in the retailer’s growth and transformation, as the business expanded its store estate, strengthened its digital offer and built its position as a key player in the premium beauty market.
Her departure comes after Space NK was acquired by Ulta Beauty from previous owner Manzanita Capital last year, marking the US beauty giant’s first move into the UK market.
Following the deal, Space NK became a standalone subsidiary within Ulta Beauty’s portfolio, while retaining its existing leadership team and brand positioning.
The retailer has continued to trade strongly, reporting record performance in the run-up to Christmas, with total business growth of 26 per cent between November and December. Online sales rose 30 per cent, supported by the launch of its new app.
In 2025, Space NK’s store openings included a flagship on London’s Oxford Street and its largest shop outside the capital at Birmingham’s Bullring.
The retailer is now understood to be searching for Mitchell’s successor as it enters its next phase of growth under Ulta Beauty’s ownership.
