Aldi asks shoppers to choose next store locations as it targets 124 new sites

Aldi is asking shoppers to help decide where it should open next as the discount grocer pushes ahead with plans for 124 potential new stores across the UK.

The supermarket has published its latest list of target locations and is inviting customers to put forward the areas they believe would benefit most from a new Aldi store.

The move forms part of Aldi’s long-term expansion strategy, with the retailer having recently invested more than £370m in new stores and set out ambitions to grow its UK estate to more than 1,500 locations.

A similar scheme last year saw shoppers identify priority locations in London, Merseyside and Oxfordshire, with Aldi progressing three new stores in those areas.

Aldi UK managing director of national real estate Jonathan Neale said the retailer wanted to make affordable food more accessible to communities across the country.

“We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re asking our shoppers to help us identify the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store,” he said.

“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”

Customers have until 18 June 2026 to submit suggestions by emailing NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk with the town they would like to nominate in the subject line.

Aldi said suggested sites must be close to a main road, have a minimum two-acre plot to accommodate a store and car park, and serve a catchment area of around 15,000 people.

The grocer’s target locations include areas across Scotland, London, the Midlands, the South East, Wales and the South West.
