Lululemon has appointed former chief product officer Tara Poseley to its board of directors, as the athleisure retailer looks to bounce back after cutting its full-year forecast in September.
Poseley joined the board on 19 October, bringing more than 30 years of experience across specialty retail, apparel and beauty.
She previously served as Lululemon’s chief product officer between 2013 and 2015, before becoming chief executive of skincare brand Paula’s Choice, a role she held from 2016 to 2023.
Her earlier career also included senior product and marketing roles at Gap, and leadership positions at Kmart Apparel.
The appointment comes as Lululemon works to revive its performance in North America, while continuing to build momentum internationally.
Board chair Marti Morfitt said Poseley’s combination of “creative instinct and product expertise”, alongside her experience scaling retail businesses, would provide “unique insights” as Lululemon works to reinvigorate its brand and strengthen its competitive position.
The company’s new chief executive Heidi O’Neill said Poseley would strengthen the board’s expertise across product innovation, brand strategy, operational excellence and consumer-focused growth.
“Her insights and guidance will be invaluable as we put product, design, and innovation at the center of how we operate,” O’Neill said.
The appointment expands lululemon’s board to 13 directors, 12 of whom are independent. It is also linked to a cooperation agreement reached with Lululemon founder Chip Wilson in May.
Wilson welcomed Poseley’s return to the business, saying she “understands what makes lululemon special” and that her appointment represented another step towards strengthening its “product-first vision”.
The move follows a broader leadership reshuffle announced by Lululemon earlier this month as O’Neill, who took over as CEO in September, sets out her strategy for the retailer’s next chapter.
Poseley said she was “honored” to rejoin the business and would work with the board and leadership team to build on lululemon’s foundation and advance its strategic priorities.
