After a run of unfortunate events plaguing the city in recent weeks, London mayor Sadiq Khan has reaffirmed that West End was open for business over summer by having a huge proportion of the precinct liveried.
Promotional #LondonIsOpen flags have been installed across the West End, including Bond Street, Conduit Street, Coventry Street, Haymarket, Leicester Square, Oxford Street, Piccadilly, South Molton Street, and Regent Street.
Each flag welcomes visitors from across the globe with “Everyone Welcome” written in the 12 languages of the top 10 visitor countries to the West End.
Despite the London Bridge and Finsbury Park terrorist attacks as well as the Grenfell Tower fire disaster, West End businesses hope to rake in total sales of more than £1 billion during the summer.

“London is the greatest city in the world and our globally renowned West End attracts millions of people who want to sample its unbeatable mix of shops, theatres and major tourist attractions,” the Mayor of London said.
“I am delighted to team up with West End businesses to show that London is Open and always will be a place where everyone is welcome.
“There is nowhere that better epitomises the spirit of London that the West End – so my message this summer is that this wonderful part of our city is teeming with things to do, places to visit and people to meet.”
New West End Company chief executive Jace Tyrell echoed Khan’s sentiments.
“With the summer tourism season in full swing and £1bn set to be spent, there is no better time of year to discover and explore the West End,” he said.
“From alfresco dining to late night shopping and an array of stars treading the boards day and night, visitors from across the UK and the globe are invited to our vibrant and exciting destination – London‘s West End.”
